Clark Library

The AB Gallery is located in the former Clark Library.  The octagonal Clark Library was built in 1893 on the site of the William Root House, which was rolled on logs down Lemon Street to make way for it.  It was modeled after the cupola of the Reading Room of the British Library in London England, and among those who donated to its construction were Oliver Wendell Holmes and Helen Keller.

(I’ll see if I can’t get that old image of the building from the History Museum.)

After spending two years searching for the right spot, in March 2008, the Marietta City Council leased the former Clark Library to <<Ab Ivens>> to use as his studio and art gallery.

Ab serves as the gallery’s signature artist, curator and owner, while Melanie Rivera works as the gallery’s manager and photographer.
